CV - cirrilicum vitae
Which words you should avoid when making your resume? Which words are useful?

As everyone knows writing a resume is a time-consuming and painful process. You have been searching through thousands of job offers to find the one that seems to fit you perfectly. So what is the next step? How to make you resume stand out and have an employer inviting you for an interview?

HR-specialists have made a list of words which make the most positive impression on your potential employer. They also made a list of words which make the most negative impression you should avoid in your resume and during an interview.

What are those negative words?

Avoid using words “hate” and “nothing”. Even if you’ve made some mistakes in your career and those words describe the situation the best use something positive like “priceless life lessons”, “valuable experience”, “rewarding experience”, etc.

Don’t use such words as “panic”, “problem”, “terrible”. None of those will emphasize your strengths, while a positive effect on the employer will also be difficult to achieve.

And what are positive words?

The reader will most likely appreciate such words as "experience", "participation", "planning", "development”. All of those reflect professional qualities potential employers value a lot.

Why is it so important to chose words wisely while creating your resume? Well, this is a simple psychology. HR employees are faced with a huge number of look-alike applications. To find someone who will suit the company the best among this diversity, the HR will first pay attention to the language and the look of application. It is your goal to make sure that after reading your resume the first impression is good and your work dos not go into “no answer” pile after the first competition round.

Also remember to avoid strong words like “never” and “always”. They are too expressive and play against you. Someone reading your resume might assume that you are stubborn or exaggerate things even when this is not a case.

Use your words wisely. Next step is to choose a good-looking resume template to present all those words nicely.
